I grew up watching my grandmother quilt in her living room on a wooden frame. She machine pieced her tops but all of the quilting was done by hand. She would use any fabric available to make the quilts. Watching her all those years left me with a need to learn. I purchased my first sewing machine and taught myself how to make cosmetic bags and stuffed animals. I started my sewing business by selling these at craft fairs. I took a quilting class at a local quilt shop and I was hooked. A few years later, I upgraded that first sewing machine and added a longarm.
